AMBL Enterprises whips VRJ squad in BAR hoopla
CEBU, Philippines – The AMBL Enterprises and Advertising of businessman Allan Lim scored its fourth win in five starts after edging out VRJ Engineering, 110-99, last Monday in the Basketball Association of Ramos (BAR) Vice Mayor Mike Rama Cup 2009 at the Cogon-Ramos gym.
Both teams engaged in a nip-and-tuck battle in the first half, with AMBL taking just a hairline lead at the break, 47-46.
Inspired by the presence of team manager Myla Lim, AMBL pulled away behind a 34-24 rally to take a 10-point advantage, 81-71, heading into the final quarter.
The Allan Lim, Fritz Sullano and Yokyok Alesna troika then put their acts together in the closing minutes of the contest to careen AMBL smoothly to victory.
Abasolo topscored with 30 points for AMBL, while Lim had 20 points in his finest game in the league, so far.
Anthony Apollo Taghoy paced VRJ Engineering with 22 points, while ex-USP Panther Jojo Baldago and Jojo Turlao finished with 19 points apiece. Actually, all six players fielded in by VRJ came up with double figures.
